my youth
We went over to Dave’s house and got really stoned. Called up some girls, but none of them were home. Steve came over and he brought some alcohol. Now we’re getting really depressed just staring at the wall.

Thank you.
Today is my 25th birthday and it’s difficult for me to express the utter gratitude I feel. I have a job that I absolutely love which brings me endless joy. I’m surrounded by wonderful, intelligent, funny, beautiful and loving friends. I’m with a wonderful man that I am utterly in love with and can’t get enough of. I’m in a graduate program that I love, and I’m...

HOW TO BE A REAL WOMAN
Roll your own cigarettes.
Your best friend ought to be your dog.
If you drop a five hundred pound motorcycle, don’t be a bitch. Pick it up.
Get you some.
Only wear heals if you can outrun a raging gorilla while wearing them.
Pack a knife. And a bottle opener.
Don’t be scared.
Don’t be weird about sex. Just do it.
Don’t be nervous.
Don’t ask other people for...

My Margarita vs. Your Margarita
If you take anything away from this blog, please make it this. Never, and I mean N.E.V.E.R, use store bought margarita mix. Nothing is more offensive than this high-fructose corn syrup-bar foam-preservative containing gunk.
I’m not one for ratios. I free pour until it tastes good. Now, a good margarita should not wreak of tequila, it should wreak of lime. For me, the addition of Cointreau,...
Summer Cocktails - The Mai Tai
I recently had the worst Mai Tai of my life. Well rum, cranberry juice, sweet and sour, Meyers floater, and canned pineapple juice. This is what a typical neighborhood bar Mai Tai is composed of. Now, when bartending, I don’t have access to rock candy syrup or orgeat (although I have convinced manager to start carrying this delicious almond milk and orange flower concoction), and therefore...

Organic Mixer Replacements for your Home Bar
Here are some good, fresh replacements for typical cocktail mixers:
Sweet & Sour - Use organic Lemonade or Limeade. Other options include a 1:2 mix of organic agave nectar or raw sugar reduced in a saucier with water mixed with 1 cup of fresh lime juice.
Pina Colada mix - Mix 12 oz. of organic pineapple nectar with 8 oz. of canned organic coconut milk.
Grenadine - See recipe here.
Quinine...

Scorpio
Scorpio is the Tila Tequila of the zodiac: naughty, horny, and always offering up more hysterical drama than you can shake a loaded camera at. In medical astrology, Scorpio reigns over the perineum, the dangerous point of intersection between the genitals and the anus, the dirtiest of all of our taboo-icky-sexy-peepee-parts. Commensurate to their anatomical margins, Scorpio can be found where...

Well I love you baby But you got to understand When the Lord made me He made a ramblin’ woman He made me, he made me Some folks Some folks might say that I’m no good That I wouldn’t settle down if I could I love to see the towns go crawling by There’s something I’ve got to do Before I die I love you baby But you got to understand When the Lord made me He made a...
Nothing I cared, in the lamb white days, that time would take me
Up to the swallow thronged loft by the shadow of my hand,
In the moon that is always rising,
Nor that riding to sleep I should hear him fly with the high fields
And wake to the farm forever fled from the childless land.
Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my...

slave
“Under the early emperors you would have been a martyr, at the time of the Reformation an Anabaptist, during the French Revolution one of those inspired Girondists who mounted the guillotine with the Marseillaise on their lips. But you are my slave. My beloved slave, Severin, oh, how I love you.” - Sacher-Masoch, Venus in Furs
